the Rev. Ken Kroohs

Rev. Kroohs is making a real impact with congregations with his "retirement" years. His is not just a wisdom of years, it is a wisdom of courageous honesty about today's churches. I recommend every congregation apply his same courage when enlisting his assistance. Be equally brave and hear him deeply, his desire is to build the body of Christ.

About:
My specific passion is working with individuals and churches who wish to reach out to new people. As part of that I greatly enjoy the opportunity to talk with people who are questioning, skeptical, and even antagonistic to Christianity. I firmly believe the issue with our churches is not that people are not interested in religion any more. Rather, the issue is that (1) religion has failed them and (2) most religious leaders don’t care about people not in their congregations.
I have a background which helps with these conversations: BSCE (civil engineering) from Northeastern in Boston, MRP (City Planning) from Cornell, and MDiv from Duke with a year at Virginia Seminary. I lead Episcopal Congregations for 21 years and each showed increases in attendance.
My ordination is in the Episcopal Church but I am now attending and occasionally assisting at a Lutheran Church and lead services at a Presbyterian Retirement Center and a RC retirement center. My focus is on helping people grow closer to God and NOT on building up a denomination or congregation (although both are likely to happen).
