This is not a standard course for wedding officiants to learn how to formally execute a legal wedding ceremony. This is a course for everyone. It fills in the gaps. It says the things that are normally left out or unknown about today’s weddings. This if for couples getting married, for family and friends helping lead and coordinate a wedding, men and women dreaming and planning about that day ahead, as well as the professionals involved in today’s weddings.
There are many well-meaning faith leaders out there who just keep repeating the same mistakes, driving new relationships away from themselves and distancing good people from all communities of faith. This course does not teach faith leaders how to bring new members into their faith communities but it can help teach faith leaders how to stop driving people away.
Often brides and grooms will read copious pages of bridal and gossip magazines for pre-wedding advice. Fiances secure wedding officiants and wedding planners to guide them through the entire process. This course is an experienced wedding officiant’s suggestions for each step of the process.
Watch these short videos and you will be prepared beyond your wildest imaginations when you meet, plan, and negotiate with your wedding officiant/couples. Print out questionnaires contracts, and ceremony preparation resources.
Couples, don’t be at the mercy of whichever professionals you end up with. Be able to assess them and choose the best fit for you. We also have advice for discussing costs and the timing of payments.
In the end we have included a bonus video about pre-marriage counseling, as it has historically been called. Why doesn’t every officiant require it?
There are so many questions that couples have not considered before they reach out to their officiant. We want you to have a great experience, the couples, their loved ones, any children (current or eventual), as well as the officiants.
United Faith Leaders wants its faith leaders not to be transactional. We want everyone we meet to want to stay in connection with their faith leader. We cannot and we will not compel it – that would be inauthentic and unkind – but it is an offer that we aspire to live out. We mean this course to help.
